Wrinkles always begin to pop up on the forehead. Previously, the only way to eliminate these wrinkles from the face, used to be a surgery. However, recently, Botox has become an immensely popular measure which has rendered surgery obsolete. It is widely popular for its usage in cosmetics, with over six million treatments being administered annually.

Treatment of dynamic wrinkles is done using Botox. Dynamic wrinkles are those wrinkles which are formed due to muscle movement. People over 40 years of age and who are experiencing dynamic wrinkles, should consider Botox treatment using Botox.

Botox works by injecting botulinum toxin which stops the nerve from making the wrinkle-causing movement. The toxin is injected in an extremely trace amount. This prevents the nerve cells from transmitting signals to the muscles. “Acetylcholine”, the chemical responsible for the contraction of muscles cells is inhibited; thus removing wrinkles and fine lines.

However, it must also be considered that Botox only lasts for 3 to 4 months and a lot of complications might develop.

Although Botox is predominantly used for aesthetic purposes in older adults, other conditions can also be treated. These include:

  1. Uncontrolled bladder
  2. Migraines
  3. Excessive sweating
  4. Diminishing glabellar lines
  5. Shoulder, neck and eyelid muscle spasms

Being one the most toxic substances, only a proper dosage of “botox” can aid in treating wrinkles. Some of the side effects include:

  1. Malaise
  2. Swelling
  3. Blurred vision
  4. Nausea and Headache
  5. Wheezing and temporary paralysis of the nearby muscles

The doctor should be consulted well in advance if a Botox treatment is to be undertaken. The doctor should be well informed about the person’s medical history and whether any pills or medications are being taken so that any unwanted results are avoided.
